Community Cleanups
Our Community Cleanup initiative began as a series of Trash Dashes in 2020. The goal being to keep local parks and neighborhoods free of trash, Our Streets has hosted cleanup events during the spring and summer every year since.
Our volunteers give their time to help pick up trash in our neighborhoods. These efforts protect the environment and ensure Portland residents can enjoy their local streets and parks safely. Our volunteers collect 60-80 pounds of trash each time.

Revitalizing Community Gardens
In the past, Our Streets has dedicated its time to rehabilitating a community garden to reduce food insecurity while improving our shared outdoor space. Professional mentors helped many of our volunteers gain new skills in gardening and construction. This project took place at the Community Garden at Ockley Green Middle School in North Portland.
Community Art
Sometimes after we remove trash, we end the event with an art project. It began as a Crafty Cleanup event in September of 2020. Volunteers cleaned up trash in the area, registered to vote, and stayed to create inspiring art for the garden.
