Who We Are
Our Story
Our Streets was formed in June 2020 as a grassroots effort to support the local community while promoting the ideals and goals of the Black Lives Matters movement. We address numerous areas of need such as homelessness, food insecurity, environmental injustice, civilian oppression, and youth engagement.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to serve the underserved. We encourage growth and unity within our community through resource provision, gatherings, and education.
Our Values
Solidarity
We aim to rectify systemic injustices through our work and within our own organization, maintaining solidarity and support for all groups facing oppression.
Empowerment
We strive to empower everyone in our community to recognize their own power and agency, while respecting and recognizing their individual needs, desires, and struggles.
Resource Stewardship
By utilizing donations, redistributing resources, and working to minimize waste we promote sustainable practices in ways that address hunger and homelessness in our community.
Compassion
We lead with kindness and compassion, hoping to understand and address the needs of the communities that we serve with open hearts and minds.
Bread and Roses
We work to ensure that everyone, both our employees and those we serve, experience a high level of quality and care in all spaces that we are a part of.
Our Team
Founded by Buchi Asemota and Mikah Takashige, Our Streets is comprised of a team dedicated to their community. We operate seven days to a week to provide meals for people in need, and also provide opportunity for community engagement and resource provision.
